I found out my pre-departure orientation is June 3rd, so I’m looking forward to that at least. That’s really all I have to look forward to because I’m completely done with school. I’m soo ready now for summer and to start enjoying California until I leave. It’s getting closer and closer!

It’s a weird feeling! Now that the excitement of everything being new is gone (I haven’t gotten any new info!) my attention span is consumed by philosophy papers and finals and the like. So annoying, I have 7 days of school left but 30 days of work!

Yeah during sophomore year I heard about it and wanted to leave for my junior year, but I’m glad I was (or tried to be) patient and waited until after I graduated. It’s a lot less stressful. Plus, I feel… ready. It feels like this is the right time because all of my friends are leaving for college. It’s in the back of my mind everyday but I don’t think about it enough to get nervous either. But sometimes I’ll be doing something normal, like going to In N Out or driving home and it’ll hit me that I’m leaving and I get all sad and appreciative of everything around me hahaha

Same here, for everything!!!!! It still feels unreal that I’ll be going there, or that the plan even exists! I’ve been waiting for so long that for it to be THIS year…. it is extremely weird/exciting/nerve-wracking/crazy. I have 11 school days left until I’m done and then I graduate on the 16th, so it feels like a waste of time being in class and doing nothing when I could be enjoying time with people before I leave!
I REALLY want to know who my host family is already. Or at least where I’ll be….. so impatient

I know, which is why I thought I’d have seen one already! Oh well, I’ll meet them in four months anyway hahaha
I just realized it IS exactly four months away, my travel dates are Aug 19-22 wow it just seems so soon.

Lol I’d probably start crying too! That would suck sooo much to get lost in the airport or to miss a flight. Such a nightmare.
On a weird note: I haven’t met anyone from the US going to French-speaking Belgium with AFS…. they’re all from other countries or going with other programs. I can’t be the only one!

Thanks! I am extremely excited to live in your country, it’s not every day people get an experience like this!

Ahh I know wouldn’t it be?! I’m more of a spring/fall person, I lovee anything mild. At least it’s guaranteed to never be 100 degrees! I hate when it rains and it’s windy at the same time though so hopefully that part is relatively mild.
I had a dream the other night that I took the wrong train and wound up in a completely different city than I was supposed to and couldn’t speak French that well…. hopefully I’ll have a cell phone for emergencies before that happens. Hopefully it never will happen haha

I know! And hail too which is just crazy. From what I’ve read it mostly just mists there every day but hopefully it’s not tooooo bad. I love snow so maybe (if I’m lucky) I’ll be living in a place where I can experience a white Christmas!

I barely do either, it’s mostly stuff I already know and things that invite me to research the culture of Belgium, as if I haven’t been doing that with all of me free (and not so free) time! It’s been raining like crazyy where I live and it reminds me of Belgium and how unprepared I am for constant rain lol
